Animal Ear Postage Stamps
This project is all about animal ears and the cool powers that they have! My idea originally started with horse ears, and how much they can show a horse’s emotions. My thumbnails then developed to be a set of four different parts of the horse, but I still wasn’t satisfied. I ended up going back to ears, and doing some research to find out cool facts about various animal ears.

This is what I found out!
HORSES:
- Can detect sounds 4 kilometers away.
- Can hear high frequencies, such as an ultrasonic shriek of a bat.
- Conical shape of ear captures very soft sounds and shields the sounds that the horse is focusing on while fading out other noises around them.
- 10 muscles in a horse ear.
CATS:
- Cat ears have 32 muscles.
- Their ears are critical to their balance.
- Can pick up sound differences that are 1/10 of a tone apart.
- Their ears serve as a mood barometer.
RABBITS:
- Can hear 3 kilometers away.
- Their ears help regulate their body temperature. The blood vessels in their ears swell when hot, and contract when cold.
RATS:
- Rats don’t suffer from hearing loss.
- Can hear ultrasound.
- Can pinpoint exact location that a sound is coming from because their ears are so close together.
