Eliza Cardwell is the illustrator behind Eliza Illustrates. Eliza was born and raised in Connecticut in a small farm town. Eliza spent two and half years at Manchester Community College in Connecticut earning her Associates Degree in Visual Fine Arts. During her time there she focused primarily on oil painting and mezzotint printmaking, but also gained experience in welding, wood sculpture, and various other printmaking forms. After graduating from MCC in 2016, Eliza moved on to Savannah College of Art and Design to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Illustration. Eliza earned her BFA in May of 2019, and is now living back in Connecticut.
Along with Eliza's deep passion for art comes a deep love for animals. Eliza started horseback riding when she was 5 years old, and has been doing so ever since. She was very active in the American Quarter Horse Association during high school, and travelled all over the country to show many horses. Eliza has also worked in the pet food industry since she was 16, and has a vast knowledge of many four legged friends. All throughout Eliza's illustrations, her love of animals is obvious!
Eliza has had work shown in multiple galleries including; The Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Connecticut, Julio Valdez Studio in New York City, Hans Weiss Gallery in Connecticut, and the Dehn Gallery in Connecticut.
